s'mores

Dane saw a picture of s'mores on the back of the gramn cracker box the other day and said that they looked really good and asked if we could make some. I realized that we had never made s'mores with the kids before so I bought the stuff we needed and we roasted the marshmallows on our gas stove. Not exactly as magical as a camp fire but they didn't know the difference, so they thought it was great. When I asked them how they liked the s'mores, Dane gave me the sign for "I love you" and said "I love them!" and Cody game me a thumbs up. It was fun. I had a great "Mommy moment".

Learning to ride without training wheels

We took the training wheels off of Dane's bike the other day.
"Don't let go Dad! Are you holding on"?
He's got it! Unfortunately he eventually fell and hurt his elbow pretty bad and wanted to know how long his training wheels had to stay off. We have been practicing everyday and he's more confident now. No training wheels...he starts kindergarten in the fall...he gets dressed by himself...and if you ask him he'll tell you he knows everything about everything now and can do everything by himself because he is five years old...where did my baby boy go?

Where did he learn to say that?

So we're driving past a construction site the other day and Dane yells out...
"SWEET MOTHER! Did you see that Mom? Did you see the size of that pile of dirt! That's called a construction zone Cody."
I about peed my pants...where did he learn "Sweet mother" from? I've been laughing about that for days. It reminded me why having kids is so worth the hassle...they're just so dang funny sometimes!

Joelle update

Joelle turned 11 months old on April 9th. As I was thinking "I think Joelle is 11 months old today." she reached out to me and took about two or three steps on her own. She's done it a couple of times since then but is still not very confident. She has also learned her second word...(no, not "Mama")...but "Na Na" as in banana (or food, feed me now!, what's that you're eating? I want some! Give it to me right now!) She loves to eat! She is also getting her top 4 teeth...ouch!

The new swings

Tyler and Grandpa Stevens set up a couple of swings on the big tree in our back yard. The kids just love them and play on them several times a day. You can really tell from these pictures how much fun they are having.

Joelle and I had a little conversation over breakfast today. This is how it went.

Me: "Say Mama".
JoJo: "Daddy"
Me: "Mama"
JoJo: "Da Da".
Me: "Ma Ma".
JoJo: "DAD!!!"

Too funny! Guess I'll give up! :>

Joelle's first word is...

Joelle said her first word today and of course it was..."Daddy!". Seriously? Come on! Who holds you, gives you your nice warm milk, picks you up when you cry, gives you kisses, gets you out of your crib first thing in the morning, puts you to bed last thing at night, feeds you, changes your diapers, dresses you, and plays with you 95% of the time?...MOMMY!!! Say it with me now..."Mommy". :>
